Port & City Connectivity
MedCruise Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIVP on April 21st, 2021.
AIVP is the only worldwide network which for over 30 years has served as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration among city and port players and their partners.
Created in 1988 by port and city stakeholders aiming to promote dialogue on the transformation of city-port interfaces, AIVP has established a reputation as the world’s leading organisation supporting sustainable city-port development strategies. Today, AIVP has a global presence in all continents, including port authorities, municipalities, regions, companies and research institutions.
AIVP and MedCruise believe in collaborative efforts to find a balance between port activities, cruises, and citizen aspirations. With 10 meetings held since its foundation, this Working Group aims to establish a benchmark of global best practices for improving relations among port cities, residents, and sustainable cruises. The group will also address challenges to implementing these practices and explore sustainable approaches for tourism and cruise markets in port cities. A key objective is to improve communication with local governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders involved in the cruise-port city relationship.
AIVP and MedCruise are using their differences to work into a common position to support sustainable cruise growth for their Members.
